Understanding Eco-Anxiety

May 6, 2026 Eco-Therapy 140 views

It's normal to feel overwhelmed by the scale of environmental challenges. Eco-anxiety—the chronic fear of environmental doom—is increasingly common, especially among young people who are acutely aware of the climate crisis.

What is Eco-Anxiety?

Eco-anxiety isn't a clinical diagnosis, but it describes very real feelings of distress, helplessness, and grief related to environmental degradation. It can manifest as difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, anger, or a sense of hopelessness about the future.

From Anxiety to Action

At ACC, we believe that eco-anxiety, when channeled constructively, can become a powerful motivator for action. Through our eco-therapy pillar, we create safe spaces for people to:

  • Acknowledge and share their feelings about environmental issues
  • Connect with nature in meaningful, restorative ways
  • Find community with others who share similar concerns
  • Take tangible, achievable actions that build hope and agency

Healing Through Connection

Our guided nature experiences and community conversations are designed to help participants move from isolation to connection, from helplessness to empowerment. By grounding ourselves in the natural world and in community, we find the resilience to continue the work that matters.

Join our next eco-therapy session and discover how connecting with nature can help restore your sense of hope and purpose.
